The TMCF SOAR (Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results) Program champions students as they explore and determine their pathway after high school and continuing support through All Things TMCF (TMCF Pre-Scholars). SOAR provides a multi-year approach to preparing students for life beyond their K-12 educational experiences.

The TMCF SOAR Program will host 10 week-long residential programs on HBCU and HBCC campuses during the summer of 2025. Each partner school will host up to 100 participants in each program.
Scholars can select two programs to apply to when completing the application but can only be selected to attend one program. Click the button below to submit your application for your preferred program:

- Alabama A&M University and Drake State Community and Technical College – Huntsville, AL – July 6-11, 2025
- Fayetteville State University – Fayetteville, NC – July 27-August 1, 2025
- Grambling State University – Grambling, LA – July 6-11, 2025
- Hinds Community College-Utica – Utica, MS – July 13-18, 2025
- Lawson State Community College – Birmingham, AL – July 20-25, 2025
- North Carolina Central University – Durham, NC – July 6-11, 2025
- Shelton State Community College – Tuscaloosa, AL – July 13-18, 2025
- Texas Southern University – Houston, TX – June 8-13, 2025
- Virginia State University – Petersburg, VA – June 22-27, 2025
Get a head start on college and career success with this incredible opportunity! The TMCF SOAR program is designed to equip scholars with the skills needed for the future through engaging and hands-on experience, including:
- Discovering exciting academic and career pathways after high school.
- Participating in professional and leadership development activities.
- Connecting with students, faculty, staff, and alumni to get a real feel for campus life.
- Learning about university admissions and financial aid opportunities.
- Joining a cohort of rising seniors from across the state, forming lasting friendships with like-minded peers.
Scholar Responsibilities
TMCF SOAR Scholars are expected to:
- Attend a 6-day summer boot camp at a participating host school.
- Actively participate in all program activities, including webinars, fall on-campus events, and mentoring sessions throughout the school year.
- Reflect on their experiences by sharing insights during discussions and evaluations.
- Approach new opportunities with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- Must be a high school junior entering senior year in summer 2025 (Class of 2026).
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Upload an academic transcript (can be official or unofficial).
- Submit a 250-300 word personal statement responding to one of the following prompts:
Option 1: What are your short-term and long-term goals after high school? How can the TMCF SOAR Program help you achieve them?
Option 2: What motivates you to pursue higher education or a career after high school? How have your experiences shaped your aspirations?
